Welcome to the SCCER BIOSWEET

The Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research - Biomass for Swiss Energy Future (SCCER BIOSWEET) is a consortia of 15 Partners from 9 Academic Institutions and more than 50 Cooperation Partners from private or public sector organizations. It focuses on the engineering and implementation of biochemical and thermochemical biomass conversion processes with a high level of technological readiness and sustainability.

Reconciling food security and bioenergy

The UN Sustainable Development Goals place a high priority on food and energy security. In June 2016, the report “Reconciling food security and bioenergy: priorities for action”, was published by the International Food Policy Research Institute together with the World Bank, the Delft University and the Centre for Environmental Policy of the Imperial College London. The paper argues that bioenergy plays an important role in achieving both goals, and lays out priorities for achieving synergies between bioenergy and food security. 


National Thematic Networks 2017 – 2020

The Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) continues to support the national thematic network (NTN) S-WIN for another four years until 2020. We congratulate our cooperation partner! Following a two-stage evaluation procedure, CTI has eleven NTNs its funding programme including three new NTNs.

Bioenergie-Forum 2016

The 4th Bioenergy Forum highlighted the regional, renewable and climate-neutral potential of bioenergy in Switzerland. However, the potentials are constraint by bureaucratic hurdles and the lack of incentives, agreed the over 100 experts. The Bioenergy-Forum was organized by Biomass Suisse and in partnership with the SCCER BIOSWEET.

Inauguration of GENEPI Platform

CEA Liten, BioWooEB at CIRAD and L’École des Mines in Albi-Carmaux invite to the inauguration of the GENEPI platform. The platform allocates research and demonstration equipment for the gasification of bioresources (including several pre- and post-treatments options).
